cross country driver training

The Cleveland Search and Rescue Team is fully 4x4 portable. The team has two of its own Landrovers Defenders, each carrying a full set of search and rescue equipment. A significant number of Team members also have their own personal 4x4 vehicles. The Team regularly trains in deploying the whole team from its team base to a remote location on the moors or forests, to carry out a rescue operation and to practice transporting casualties off the hill and on to hospital in its own Landrover Ambulances.

The casualty’s condition would be monitored by the team’s own Doctors, Paramedics or Advanced Mountain Rescue Casualty Carers to ensure they receive the best possible care during transport

The team is regularly asked to assist the ambulance service during periods of bad weather when road driving conditions become too treacherous or places become inaccessable for normal ambulance service road vehicles
