The Team was alerted by N Yorks police after concerns were raised about a 42 year old Billingham man who was reported as been in a distressed state and whose car had been found in the car park at Clay Bank.
In a joint operation with the police forces from Cleveland and North Yorkshire, which also involved aerial support and dog units, 25 members of the Team searched the surrounding forest and moorland tracks.
The search was stood down at midnight with plans to restart in daylight with additional personnel from Scarborough and Teesdale Teams as well as SARDA search and rescue dogs.
The Search was called off at 0600 after the missing man had walked back into the car park, cold and damp but well.
