![]() Land Rover Ambulance Value: £40,000 Ref: 'Landy' |
Both of our Land Rovers are coming to the end of their operational life. These specially modified vehicles are essential for transporting not only team members but also all of the rescue equipment needed. Whether we are on a search or a rescue, in a field or on a crag our Land Rovers are always there in the thick of it. |
![]() Garage Roof Value: £35,000 Ref: 'Roof' |
A large amount of work has been done on our team base. We are coming to the end of phase one which will give us a training room, control room and toilets. This is a great achievement but we still have a lot to do the most important feature being the garage. |
![]() Vacuum Matress Value: £500 Ref: 'VacMat' |
A vacuum mattress allows the whole of a casualty's body to be splinted and immobilised, this is vital where back or neck injuries are suspected. They are starting to show signs of wear such as scuff marks on the fabric and buckles that are starting to fail. These really are essential for mountain rescue work and we need to replace them before they have to be taken out of action. |
![]() Rescue Helmet Value: £22.50 Ref: 'Helmet' |
Helmets are required kit for all mountain rescue team members and are one of the most important items of personal protective equipment we carry. The guidelines supplied by the manufacturer state that they must be replaced every ten years to ensure that they are fit for use. |
![]() A Litre of Diesel Value: £1.40 Ref: 'Fuel' |
The Rescue Team covers a wide area which means that on a callout we can use a significant amount of fuel simply getting to the casualty. With fuel prices forever climbing, this makes for a large bill. |
